Maybe you try to over analyzzzzzzzzze everything?

There are different degree of right physically, don't think he would have to be bad enough to be left out to have some effect on the quickness of his game.

Re: Payet, is he really one of the first names on the team sheet?
Maybe teams have learned to mark him differently? Maybe he just isn't showing the form he showed before?

If he wasn't right physically, I doubt he'd be playing.

Re: Payet, is he really one of the first names on the team sheet?
I disagree that something is not physically wrong, whatever that may be.

By 10 or so games in, I fully expected him to beat his man one on one every time.

Have not seen that very much at all recently and I am not talking double teams which are more frequent but when he is able to isolate a defender.

The tired excuse right fucks me off, footballers are probably at the pinnacle of fitness of any human beings.

Even Messi has off games, what do people seriously expect?

He's still creating the majority of our chances (even if just dead balls) in games where he isn't magnificent.

Re: Payet, is he really one of the first names on the team sheet?
I don't think he looks tired at all. He just isn't showing the form he showed previously.

There doesn't always have to be a reason. He's our best player and still involved in everything good we do on the pitch.

Re: Payet, is he really one of the first names on the team sheet?

What a ridiculous thread. He is our best player, so would Real Madrid not play Ronaldo, Barca not play Messi, when they are fit and free to play?

Payet has brought so much to the team, improved the players around him and also scored some unbelievable goals and he is being referred to as luxury.

dear dear me...

I doubt he's ever had a tougher, more intense season than this one.

I'm pleased that he's getting the international recognition he deserves BUT it's a shame he's not getting a proper summer holiday as it looks like he needs it.

Lately he's looked to be saving himself for Euro 2016.

Hope we play him central tonight. Seems much more effective there.

Re: Payet, is he really one of the first names on the team sheet?
With a player like Payet he plays every week to my mind on the basis that he creates chances, is a goal threat and can score from set pieces. He will also be identified as the main threat by other teams that will hopefully allow space for our other creative players. If he is jaded then it might be that he is rested from time to time but that would be somethings that I am sure Bilic would be alive to but in a tight game you might only be looking at one moment in a game that changes things and even a slightly below par Payet is more likely to provide than anybody else in our team.

He looks knackered.

Plays a very similar role to Ronaldo, on the left but drifts inside.

Re: Payet, is he really one of the first names on the team sheet?
Fucking ridiculous thread.

The man is up for PFA player of the season even though he missed ten games. His goal against Blackburn is as close to a winger as he gets.

True dat.

One McAvennieeeeee 9:13 Wed Apr 20
Re: Payet, is he really one of the first names on the team sheet?
He basically has a free role. People are making way too much of the 'wing' thing. He doesn't play on the wing at all. Wingers play on the wing. He isn't a winger and doesn't play as one.

Hammer and Pickle 9:09 Wed Apr 20
Re: Payet, is he really one of the first names on the team sheet?
Played out on the wing he tends to cut back in when on the ball to avoid the hulking markers teams put on him. Though this means he earns plenty of free kicks in danger areas, the logical conclusion would be to start him in the middle.

Oh and to suggest he doesn't get an automatic start when fit is pure fishing.

I know one person who would agree with the OP on Payet but thankfully he left last summer.

I would imagine he is THE first name on the team sheet and with good reason.

Best attacking talent we have had in years.

Some of our supporters will just never be pleased.

Some of the stuff I have read about Payet in the last few weeks is absolutely ridiculous.
